The Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) on July 28 named to posts persons who are suspected of acts of corruption. Moreover, the appointments by the SCM are made by agreement between members, said Minister of Justice Justiției Fadei Nagachevski. On the other hand, ex-minister of justice Olesea Stamate said pressure is being exerted on the SCM members and criminal cases were started against relatives of members of the Council, IPN reports.
“This is corporatism. According to my information, they (the SCM members – e.n.) were subject to pressure by representatives of the Party of Socialists or persons close to them. Regrettably, what we see is the reinvigoration of the Plahotniuc regime in the person of the Party of Socialists,” Olesea Stamate stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.
For his part, Fadei Nagachevski said he warned the SCM members not to promote discredited persons to posts.
“I transmitted them the message that was delivered by the PAS (during the protest mounted at SCM, e.n.) at the very beginning. I also urged them not to promote discredited persons. I’m convinced that those who were appointed today shouldn’t have been named, based on the information that was furnished to the members of the Superior Council of Magistracy. I do not want to give names, but one of the sonorous names is that of Tamara Chișca-Doneva whose reputation is rather dented,” said the minister.
The official considers there are groups of interests on the SCM that promote persons who suit one circle or another.
“I presume they banked on the fact that it is the vacation, the end of July and they will avoid attention from politicians and the press and this story will be somewhere overlooked. No matter what you tell them, agreements are reached in the corridors, not during the meetings. The members agree between them which candidate to support,” stated Fadei Nagachevski.
