Prosecutor Iurie Garaba, who was involved in a road accident on July 30, started the quarrel with the other driver Gheorghe Munteanu, ill-treated and hit him, said two young men who were in Munteanu’s car.
In a news conference at IPN, eyewitness Andrei Pituscan said that in the morning of July 30 he and a colleague of his were going to work in Munteanu’s car. On Calea Iesilor St, a BMW car driven by the prosecutor crashed into their car. Garaba was the first to push Munteanu, hitting whim with the head on the car. In the altercation, the prosecutor was also hit in the face and suffered nasal hemorrhage.
He also said that Gheorghe Munteanu filmed how the prosecutor threatened him. Three or four police cars and civilian vehicles came to the scene. The occupants threatened Munteanu with death.
Iurie Garaba was taken by an ambulance, while Munteanu and his colleagues by the police. The two eyewitnesses said they were questioned and the prosecutors tried to convince them to say that the accident took place on the lane on which the prosecutor’s car moved, while the altercation happened near the car of Garaba and Munteanu attacked the prosecutor.
The leader of the Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu, who informed the press about this accident, said the prosecutors tried to modify the testimonies, evidence and scheme of the accident. The eyewitnesses photographed that the prosecutor’s car was clean, while the prosecutors already have pictures of blood stains on Iurie Garaba’s car. “They probably want to impress the judges this way,” he stated.
The politician told the journalists that some of the images from Gheorghe Munteanu’s phone could have been saved, but the video recordings showing how Munteanu is threatened disappeared after the prosecutors took the phone. The prosecutors started a criminal case over hooliganism, not causing of bodily injuries as Garaba suffered not even medium gravity injuries. The medical-legal examination showed that the arrested driver has a head hematoma.
The leader of “Antimafie” said the Prosecutor General’s Office acted in this case as last winter, when it hushed up the tragic hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest, which involved former prosecutor general Valeriu Zubco.http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/36677251
