Leaders of extraparliamentary opposition parties said Igor Dodon’s request to broaden the President’s powers is inopportune. They noted the President didn’t use at least the powers he possesses now. The issue was developed in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.

Leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said Igor Dodon’s request to widen the President’s powers is nothing but an attempt to lie to the own voters because he needs justification when he can present no accomplishment. “He did nothing of what he promised and he didn’t use at least the few powers he has because his master Vladimir Plahotniuc didn’t allow him to,” she stated.

Chairman of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase noted that Igor Dodon has sufficient prerogatives that he could put into practice. The President does not do this because he is vulnerable to those with whom he concluded a deal before the presidential elections. “Igor Dodon agreed with Vladimir Plahotniuc to make a false geopolitical agenda. They agreed to stage a circus show in the public sphere. Nothing prevented Igor Dodon from initiating what he promised to the people: to make approaches to restore the stolen funds; to ask for another referendum than a consultative one,” said Andrei Nastase.

President Igor Dodon repeatedly stated his request to extend the powers of the Head of State.
