In Chisinau, an extensive process of current rehabilitation of the elevators in residential blocks has begun. To date, 90 of the 270 elevators for which such work was planned have been repaired. Repairs and upgrades are aimed at both small and larger capacity elevators.
The Housing and Development Directorate notes that the average lifetime of an elevator is 25 years and many units in the city are long past this term. In all sectors, the elevators with broken lights, non-operational buttons, damaged linoleum, or complained about for other reasons were selected for repairs.
The work is carried out by the municipal company Lift Service.
