Exports from Transnistrian region verified by Moldova’s Customs Service exceed imports six times

The goods exported and imported by the Transnistrian economic operators through Moldova’s Customs Service in the first ten months of this year added up to about 7.72 bln lei. Exports totalled 6.6 bln lei, while imports about 1.121 bln lei.
According to the Ministry of Reintegration of Moldova, since 2004 until present, Transnistria has exported the same types of products. There were exported mainly iron-and-steel products, electric power, products from the light industry, machines and equipment. These products made up 90% of the total exports. Since 2005 until October 2007, the iron-and-steel exports rose by 2.2%, the exports of products from light industry by 1.8% and the exports of electrotechnical equipment and of products from the processing industry and car making by 1.0%.
Exports to the EU member states totalled 2.5 bln lei, making up 38% of the total exports. They rose by 18.2% compared with the corresponding period of 2005.
Imports into Transnistria over January-October 2007 increased by 13% compared with the same period last year. Imports from the European Union made up 85% of the total imports.
The number of Transnistrian economic entities that declared the exports at the Customs Service of Moldova in 2007 rose from 37 to 85, while of those that imported merchandise – from 24 to 61.
The State Registration Chamber of Moldova this year registered 102 Transnistrian economic operators. Overall, it registered 369 companies, both on permanent and temporary basis.
The Ministry of Reintegration specified that the sums paid by the Transnistrian economic operators are restored without delay. About 1.29 million lei were returned altogether.
