Products with the expired shelf life, even of up to four years, were discovered in the storehouse of the company “Octopus Prof”. The shelf life on them was changed, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of the Interior. “In the fruit and vegetable canning company’s storehouse last week, we caught workers erasing the shelf life from some of the expired produces and marking a new shelf life so that they could be sold in stores in Chisinau,” adviser to the minister of the interior Eugen Onica told a news conference. As a result of raids, expired products were found in a number of shopping centers in Chisinau and Balti and in the lots that were to be sold or donated to orphanages and preschool education institutions on the occasion of the winter holidays. “The given products were assessed at 3 million lei,” said the head of the Fraud Investigation Division Vitalie Briceag. The old shelf life was removed with acetone and a new term was indicated with a special apparatus. The Ministry of the Interior warns that the period marked repeatedly can be noticed if looking attentively. The buyers are urged to carefully examine the products before purchasing them. There was opened a criminal case. The culprits face up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine of 4 000 to 12 000 lei.
