Industrial hemp is becoming increasingly attractive for Moldovan agricultural producers due to its numerous uses and positive impact on the environment and the economy. At a press conference at IPN, specialists in the field underlined the importance of capitalizing on this crop and the opportunities it offers.

Victor Melnic, a representative of the AROMEDA Association, emphasized that hemp can be used to produce thousands of products, from food to textiles and building materials: "The latest data from the specialized literature show that up to 34 000 products can be made from hemp". According to Victor Melnic, it could become an important branch of the national industry and a viable alternative for farmers.

Marin Ciobanu, a producer of natural oils, emphasized that hemp seeds are a valuable source for the production of oils used in both the food and cosmetics industries: "We use hemp in bakery products, cold-pressed oils and cosmetics. The current problem is that we import the raw material, which raises production costs and increases its final price".

Agriculture expert Iurie Usurelu noted that the crop could support the development of scientific research and the creation of indigenous varieties: "We have around 70 farmers interested in this crop, and with the cultivation of industrial hemp, we can initiate scientific and research programs to develop indigenous seeds".

In addition, according to experts, hemp plays a key role in purifying soil, absorbing heavy metals and other pollutants.

In addition to local benefits, industrial hemp has great export potential: "By growing industrial hemp, we also develop the country's exports. The farmers' aim is not only to use the crop domestically, but also to capitalize on it on foreign markets".

Sergiu Harea, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the development of the industrial hemp industry can make a significant contribution to the creation of new jobs and the diversification of Moldova's economy.

According to experts, industrial hemp is a versatile crop used in various industries. Its fibers are used in the production of textiles, ropes, paper and building insulation materials. The seeds are used in the food and cosmetics industries as a rich source of protein, essential oils and beneficial fatty acids. In the construction industry, hemp is used to make environmentally-friendly concrete and insulation panels. It is also a promising raw material for the production of bioplastics and biofuels, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional materials.
