Some experts consider that Maia Sandu has the right to put forward conditions for accepting the post of head of Government, while others think these conditions should be discussed only inside the party that proposed her for premiership. Such contradictory opinions were stated in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.

University lecturer Angela Colatski said Maia Sandu has the right to impose such conditions and the alliance parties will make a mistake if they do not vote her in. “In a parliamentary republic, the executive power is concentrated in the hands of the Prime Minister. The agreement to form the AEI 3 is based on the previous relevant accords. We will not overcome the situation with such an alliance agreement. Maia Sandu is one of the few persons who enjoy credibility inside the party that fielded her and in society. The alliance parties will improve their image if they vote Sandu Premier,” she stated.

On the other hand, constitutional law expert Vitalie Catana considers the conditions put forward by Maia Sandu endanger the agreement on the formation of the alliance. “Maia Sandu should have discussed the conditions inside the PLDM, while with the PDM and PL she should discuss only the government program. If Sandu formulates new conditions, the alliance agreement could be renounced. I don’t understand why she should impose conditions when the Government that is to be voted in is a coalition one. The ball is now in the PLDM’s court and they should deal themselves with the conditions of their candidate,” he said.
