Russia’s actions pose a threat to the region, including to Moldova, said experts invited to the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The head of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina” Anatolie Caraman considers the authorities should immediately take measures to ensure security. “Military drills with the limitation of fighting in an open area were recently held in Transnistria. Now exercises are staged to train the military to fight in towns. Moldova does not have a high quality defense system. The administration of the state must take measures to strengthen the defense capacities. If we join NATO, our security will not be in danger. The neutrality status should be reviewed as this status would take us back to the Russian empire. Moscow didn’t give up the project “Novorossia”,” he stated.

Media analyst Cristian Tabara made reference to the recent arrest by the Ukrainian security forces of an activist of the so-called “Bessarabian Rada” in Odessa. “They have spoken about this organization for about two years. They now arrested a person whose duty was to stage a separatist movement in southern Ukraine. This person admitted that he worked for Moscow. The scenario “Bessarabian Rada” envisions the annexation of Moldova territories too. I think these scenarios are not at all accidental. Russia targets particular strategic areas, like the Danube Delta. This is a threat to Moldova’s security and to the security of the whole region,” he said.
