Twelve persons with disabilities who achieved remarkable results in their areas of activity are the protagonists of the second photo exhibition “People who Inspire”. These are community leaders, people of arts, athletes, communicators and media specialists, students and initiators of social projects - people who showed perseverance and courage. The exhibition was mounted at the Municipal Library “B. P. Hasdeu” and can be visited until December 10. It was organized in connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that is celebrated on December 3, IPN reports.

Alina Găină, communication coordinator of the Youth Media Center, said the exhibition is about humanity and support. “When being photographed, the protagonists related mainly about people who helped them, who were near them when they only dreamt of this. We want to tell the persons with disabilities that we recognize their involvement efforts,” she stated.

Viorica Dumbrăveanu, secretary of state in charge of social assistance, said that by the given exhibition they aimed to showcase the talents of the protagonists. The exhibition will be mounted in a number of public institutions so as to sensitize the public and eliminate stigmatization and the barriers faced by persons with disabilities.

“We are trying to tell the people that we are like this, have many abilities, bring a lot of value to society, sometimes more than others and this is a bid thing,” said Ludmila Malcoci, director of Keystone Moldova Association, which is the project’s partner.

Nadejda Banari is one of the protagonists of the exhibit. She said she had jitters when posing as she is not “on friendly terms” with the camera. Instead, she can very well use her hands and embroiders and makes things by hand and this brings her moral satisfaction rather than profit. Her mother and brothers help her.

Vlad Andreev has worked as a photographer for seven years. He said he really likes what he can do and easier overcomes the obstacles owing to this. A higher training level is important when looking for a job.

Victoria Boțan, PR specialist of “Motivație” Association, said the support of the team with which she has worked for two years already was very important. “Owing to my team, I felt I grew professionally. Our possibilities are absolutely unlimited,” she stated.

The event was organized by the Alliance of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities of the Republic of Moldova and the Youth Media Center in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection with financial support from IM Swedish Development Partner.
