An exhibition entitled “Eminescian values” was mounted at the National Library in Chisinau in connection with the 166th anniversary of Mihai Eminescu’s birth. This year, the exhibit dedicated to the works of the great bard places emphasis on Mihai Eminescu’s manuscripts that were donated by the Romanian Academy, IPN reports.
Event organizer Raisa Melnic, who is the head of the Library’s Cultural Programs Service, said the exhibition contains over 200 books with Eminescu’s works, including “Corpusul receptarii critice a operei lui Eminescu” (“The corpus of critical reception of Eminescu’s works”), which is a collection donated by the Balmus family.
In this year’s exhibit, Raisa Melnic introduced a chapter centering on the political situation in the Republic of Moldova, which is seen through the angle of Mihai Eminescu poem “3rd Letter”.
The organizer said that owing to this fact, she was subject to pressure by the Library’s administration. “We presented the events that happen now in the central square of Chisinau, namely “Rejected candidate”, “A day of protests in Chisinau”, “Plahotniuc’s remedies” and “Temptation and the lawbreaker” – everything that appeared in the media as to those events. I’m intimidated. I’m told to close this exhibition,” said Raisa Melnic.
The exhibit will be open to the public during two weeks.
