Executive sets up Electronic Government Center

The framework for administering the activities aimed at building an information society in Moldova will be more coherent following the creation of the Electronic Government (E-Government) Center, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The center will be managed by the State Chancellor's Office. It will start work in a month. Meanwhile, a working group set up by the Government will formulate the center's regulations.
Minister of State Victor Bodiu, who heads the working group, said the E-government is aimed at ensuring access to official information, providing electronic services to the population and businesses, improving the quality of the public services, increasing the people's role in decision making, making the public administration more efficient, strengthening democracy and the state institutions.
According to the minister, a first step that will be taken is to prepare the public authorities and the society in general for the utilization of the information technology in different areas.
The E-Government Center will focus on the development of the common electronic documents system of the public authorities, will run the public key certification center, will create and implement the state information and electronic services system.
