Excise duty on fermented and unfermented wine to be annulled

The excise duty on fermented and unfermented wine will no more used from 2012. This is stipulated in a bill with amendments to a number of laws approved by the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta said the move is aimed at adjusting the national legislation in the field to the European one, at diminishing the fiscal burden on winemakers and winegrowers and at stimulating the development of the area. The excise dirty on crystal items will be also annulled as its application turned out to be inefficient and stimulated the illegal import of such items. Next year, the excise duty on tobacco articles will be raised from 10 lei +18% to 20 lei +24%, while the duty on ethyl alcohol with an alcohol concentration of up to or more than 80% of the volume will be 15 lei +15% and 30 lei + 30% respectively. The excise duties on cars will be increased by 50%, while on oil products and their derivatives will be adjusted to the inflation rate projected for 2012 (6.9%).
