Twenty doctoral students will receive excellence scholarships of 2,500 lei, while another seven students will get nominal scholarships of 2,000 lei. The candidates were selected at a contest staged by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. This involved 46 doctoral students from 18 institutions, IPN reports.
The results of the contest were approved by a Government decision. Priority was given to candidates with higher average grades in doctoral exams, with articles in magazines and with invention brevets or who took part in national and international conferences. The scholarships are provided with the aim of motivating doctoral students to do research with implementation impact.
The value of the excellence and nominal scholarships paid from the state budget is twice higher than the value of ordinary scholarships.
