The July 6 sitting of the Parliament, where the report of the commission for studying the totalitarian Communist regime in Moldova was to be discussed, was put off. The legislative body will convene on Thursday, Wednesday and Friday after the Constitutional Court examines today the bill to amend article 78 of the Constitution by referendum, the chairwoman of the parliamentary group of the Liberal Party Corina Fusu stated for Info-Prim Neo. She said today's sitting of the Parliament was postponed because there wasn't reached a decision as regards the creation of a joint working group involving representatives of all the factions that will draft the Parliament Decision on the historical, political and juridical assessment of the crimes committed by the Communist regime, on the basis of the commission's report. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party Serafim Urecheanu said the sitting was put off at the suggestion of Acting President Mihai Ghimpu as not all the materials are ready. “I subscribe to Mister Ghimpu's initiative,” added Serafim Urecheanu, the first deputy speaker of Parliament. Liberal-Democrat MP Veaceslav Ionita said the sitting was postponed because no consensus was reached inside the working group that is trying to formulate a decision on the report, which would be accepted by all the members of the AEI. The president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov invoked the same reasons. “I don't known when the sitting will take place. The Cojocaru commission (that is headed by Gheorghe Cojocaru – e.n.) and a parliamentary group are working. I think a decision will not be taken by the end of this session,” Dumitru Diacov said.
