A former prosecutor of the Glodeni Prosecutor’s Office was sentenced to two years and two months in jail for abuse of office and falsification of public documents. He was also banned from holding the post of prosecutor for a ten-year period. The sentence was given by the Glodeni court, IPN reports.
The court ordered that the first part of the sentence, of one year and a month, will be served in jail, while the other part was turned into three years’ probation.
The ex-prosecutor was arrested in the courtroom for serving his sentence.
By the same sentence, the court acquitted the former prosecutor on the count of professional negligence, for violations committed when handling a number of criminal cases.
The sentence is not final and can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
