Ex-presidents, current and former Premiers to discuss Moldova’s aspirations

Moldova’s European integration program will be discussed by former high-ranking Polish and Romanian officials and Moldovan officials during a three-day forum that starts in Chisinau on March 29, executive director of the Foreign Policy Association Victor Chirila announced in a news conference on Monday, March 28, Info-Prim Neo reports. The agenda of the meeting includes issues concerning the Transnistrian dispute, the reforms in agriculture, the geopolitical situation and the investment climate in Moldova. Speeches in the first roundtable meeting themed “Transition to democracy. 20 years of independence” will be given by former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, ex-President of Romania Emil Constantinescu, and former President of Moldova Petru Lucinschi. Moldovan ex-Premier Ion Sturza will chair the meeting. The March 30 session will be chaired by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, who will come to Chisinau on Tuesday afternoon. The “EU-Moldova” forum is organized by the Foreign Policy Association and the Institute for Eastern Studies of Warsaw in partnership with the Moldovan Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Poland in Chisinau. According to Victor Chirila, the forum will take place in the conference hall of a hotel situated in central Chisinau. More than 70 politicians, lawmakers, diplomats and experts from the EU, Romania, Ukraine and Russia have been invited to the event that is aimed at attracting attention to Moldova’s European integration aspirations.
