The former Parliament Speakers could be deprived of the concessions they enjoyed when paying for public utilities. The parliamentary commission for appointments and immunities will propose that Parliament should give a second reading to a bill to amend the law on the status of MP, IPN reports.
The bill was drafted by Socialist MP Vasile Bolea. The informative note to the bill says the legislative technique was not respected when the given legal provision was thought up. The phrase “concessions on the payment of public utilities” that was included in the text of the law seems vague and unclear as the limit of these concessions cannot be determined.
The bill author noted that not even the President and other remarkable figures of the nation benefit from such an advantage. As the principle of social equity is not respected, this incentive should be eliminated.
The legislative proposal was given a first reading in 2017.
