Former MP and ex-minister of education Leonid Bujor died at the age of 65 after contracting COVID-19. “In these sad moments, we offer our condolences and compassion to the family, relatives, colleagues and all those who knew Mister Leonid Bujor,” says an obituary signed by acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Europe Integration, and Minister of Education, Culture and Research Lilia Pogolșa, IPN reports.
“...Goodbye, dear Leonid, a bright man, a good colleague and friend!” ex-deputy prime minister Victor Osipov posted on a social networking site. “You were a fighter who always struggled for mankind, justice, nation, for a decent future for the children of this afflicted land! An athlete since youth, you always remained an athlete and young in soul, with Chisinau in the heart and forming part of the life of this city. Olympic till the end!”.
Leonid Bujor sat on Moldova’s Parliament in 2005-2009. In 2009-2011, he served as minister of education. During the last few years, he worked at the National Olympic and Sports Committee.
According to the family, the body will be laid in the church situated on Armenească St on January 8, 2021, starting at 5pm. He will be buried at the Central Cemetery on Armenească St on January 9.
