A former mayor from Taraclia district will stand trial for leasing out a publicly owned pond to a company, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The ex-mayor reduced the rental for the company, which used the pond in 2008 – 2012, causing thus damage of over 150,000 lei to the state.
The defendant was banned from leaving the country. He faces 6 to 10 years in jail and prohibition on holding public posts for a period of 2 to 5 years.
