The former mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoacă said the plan by which Albișoara St in Râșcani district of the capital city is renovated is old and of Soviet type. If the municipal authorities do not change the traffic flow parameters on this street, the repair works performed there at present will be useless, IPN reports.

“Why don’t they remove the traffic lights on Albișoara St? Why don’t they set up rotaries there? As regards the quality of works, the curbs are of a good quality and I liked them. We will see if they extend the pluvial drainage channels and change the composition of asphalt or we will again have cracks similar to those on Ștefan cel Mare Blvd and not only,” stated Dorin Chirtoacă, the leader of the Liberal Party.

The former mayor noted the bumps that appear shortly on the renovated streets are due to the composition of the asphalt, which is made according to old norms. “The norms are not changed. We cannot lay asphalt with a number of concrete components as they do in the Arab countries or Turkey, where the temperatures are higher.”

According to Dorin Chirtoacă, the outdated project is the key problem in the renovation of Albișoara St. The street should have become an additional artery that would have freed Stefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd from traffic.

“The technical project is based on Soviet designing methods. This means the same movement impediments will persist. They change the curbs and the asphalt and repair the pluvial drainage system, but do not change the traffic flow parameters. Therefore, they didn’t improve anything,” stated Dorin Chirtoacă.
