All the traffic police officers are obliged from today, June 5, to register the units of transport they stop. “The aim of such a measure is to reduce the cases of corruption and check how the traffic police observe article 39 of the regulations concerning the supervision of road traffic,” Tudor Capatana, of the Traffic Police Division, has told Info-Prim Neo. According to Capatana, the motor vehicle are stopped when the driver breaks the traffic rules or when there is information that the driver committed an offence, contraband or stolen goods are transported by the vehicle or wanted persons are in the car. The vehicles can also be stopped when the police carry out special operations, the drivers look drunk or tired or the units of transport have signs of involvement in road accidents. The traffic police cannot stop the vecholes without reason. “Therefore, every car stopped will be registered,” Tudor Capatana said. The police officers will indicate the hour, date and license number of the car as well as the reason why it was stopped. The ordinance came into force on June 5.
