A student of I year of the Economic Studies Institute, inhabitant of district Straseni, was hospitalized in reanimation section of the Emergency Hospital with rather serious traumas suffered in an accident.
The inspector of road traffic security, administrative supervision and public relations service of Chisinau Road Police, Ion Roscovanu, reported that the accident happened on the street Mateevici of the capital. A car Honda, driven by a woman, aged 45, living on the same street, hit the young man, aged 20. The victim was hospitalized in reanimation section of the Emergency Hospital with serious cranial-cerebral concussion and associated injures.
Ion Roscovanu said that last 25 hours, road inspectors made 30 reports to pedestrians, who crossed the streets in admissible places. According to Road Traffic Regulation, they will have to pay a fine from 10 to 20 lei. He also mentioned that the identification process of pedestrians-offender will continue as well after finishing, on 12 April, the special operation „Pedestrian”, initiated in order to prevent accidents with pedestrians’ involvement.
About 43% of the total number of accidents, happened in 2005 in Moldova, is pedestrian hitting. The statistics show that every 7-th injured pedestrian in accidents is guilty of this accident, every 9-th dead or injured child in accidents was not attentive while crossing the street.
