An event entitled “Parkour – the art of moving in public space” will be organized in Moldova on April 14-16. The project, implemented by the French Alliance in Moldova and the German Cultural Center “Akzente”, is supported by the Embassy of France and the Embassy of Germany as well as by the French Institute and the Franco-German Cultural Fund, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the organizers, parkour became popular owing to Luc Besson’s film “Yamakasi” and represents the art of moving from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible, combining running, jumping and climbing, depending on the obstacles. For the purpose, the traceur (the practitioner of parkour) must train a lot so as to develop the abilities and know the limits. This sport implies exchange of experience with other practitioners, tolerance and openness.
Two French actors starring in the film “Yamakasi”, Belle Chau and Laurent Piemontesi, who are the founders of the “Art du Déplacement Academy”, and two German traceurs, Matthias Mayer and Silke Sollfrank, will join the Moldovan parkour community for a series of masterclasses and sessions in parkour and freerun.
The project will be launched officially in the Park “Valea Trandafirilor” in Chisinau on April 14. A workshop and a demonstration will be staged there. On April 15, a masterclass will be given in the gym of the State University of Physical Education and Sport. On April 16, a training seminar will be held in Orheiul Vechi.
Traceurs from Moldova will be then able to take part in an international parkour session within a similar project implemented in Iasi, Romania.
