This year, too, Moldova will be joining the ninth edition of the European Week of Sport, taking place annually from September 23 to 30. The initiative encourages European citizens in more than 40 countries to #BeActive and stay fit all year long, not only during the Week.
In Moldova, the European Week of Sport has been an annual observance since 2018. This year, an impressive list of Moldovan champions will serve as ambassadors of the #BeActive campaign, including the Olympic weightlifting champion Tudor Casapu (Barcelona 1992), European and World wrestling champions Anastasia Nichita and Irina Rîngaci, Olympic bronze medalist in boxing Veaceslav Gojan (Beijing 2008), European Muay Thai champion Artiom Levadari, and Olympic medalist and world canoe sprint champion Serghei Tarnovski (Tokyo 2020).
The European Week of Sport is a European Union program that started in 2015 with the aim of promoting sports and physical activity among all people, regardless of age, social background or level of physical training.
