The European space will offer benefits that will be felt by every Moldovan apart. Moldova is comparable with the European values and it must extend the Europe integration process. The EU will enable the people to be part of a prosperous economy and of a democratic state with recognized standards, said the chairman of the National Participation Council Sergiu Ostaf.
According to Ostaf, even if Moldova heads for Europe, it must not renounce the contacts with the Eurasian Customs Union as a state must use all the available resources for multilateral development.
Sergiu Ostaf said there are certain shortcomings in the European integration process. One of them is witnessed in the social sector. “The Government has not yet achieved results in this sector, especially as regards the social inclusion of persons with disabilities. In the EU, they promote the solidarity principle, when the whole society is responsible for the vulnerable section,” Sergiu Ostaf said in a news conference at IPN.
Coordinator of the CNP group on environment Alecu Renita said that only if Moldova integrates into this space and meets the European standards on environment, will we be able to resolve many of the problems existing in the country. “The sustainable development of Moldova can have a prospect only within the EU,” he stated.
Coordinator of the economic group Adrian Lupusor said that by the association with the EU, especially by the signing of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, we will be able to obtain a GDP growth of about 6%, but this thing will happen gradually. “For consumers, this means cheaper imported products as we will be exempted from a series of customs duties. For businesses, it means cheaper raw material and elimination of restrictions on the export of animal products and on the access to the Turkish market,” he said.
Coordinator of the group on security Arcadie Barbarosie said the association with the EU will contribute to enhanced national security. “We will benefit from a common security and defense policy. The security sector will be much more controlled and transparent,” he stated, adding that the EU will support Moldova in settling the Transnistrian conflict and this is the only long-term development prospect for Moldova.
