European Parliament mission on visit to Moldova

A mission of the Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament is paying a visit to Moldova on July 20-23. While in Chisinau, the mission will have meetings with Moldovan officials to discuss aspects of regional security and the developments in Transnistria, IPN reports.

According to the Moldovan Parliament’s press service, the MEPs will meet with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu, Acting Prime Minister Natalia Gherman and members of the parliamentary commission on defense and public order.

In the Government Building, the European Parliament’s delegation will have discussions with Acting Minister of the Interior Oleg Balan, Acting Minister of Defense Viorel Cibotaru and head of the National Army General Staff Igor Gorgan. The program of the visit also includes meetings with the administration of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine, the OSCE Mission to Moldova and of the Delegation of the European Union in Chisinau.

The representatives of the Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the European Parliament will also discuss with the Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca and with representatives of civil society.
