European Parliament elections in Moldova. Partial results

Over 56,700 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted for members of the European Parliament at the 52 polling stations established in the Republic of Moldova, according to data from the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania. The votes cast by Moldovans with Romanian citizenship account for about 25 percent of the total number of votes registered in the diaspora – 216,000 votes in total, IPN reports.

According to statistics, most of the voters fell into the 45-64 age category – over 23,700. The voters in the age category of 65 years and over totaled 12,700, in the 35-44 age category – 11,900, voters aged 25-34 years – slightly over 6,000 and those aged 18-24 years – over 2,200.

The ratio of women to men who cast their ballots was 28,500 women to 28,100 men. All the voters are from urban areas. Most of the electors voted in Chisinau, Orhei, Ungheni, Ialoveni and Hancesti.

According to the partial results, in the Republic of Moldova the PSD-PNL alliance won 55% of the ballot, the United Right Alliance – around 23%, Renewing Romania’s European Project (Reper) – 5.5%, and AUR – 4.6%.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 10 p.m.
