The European Investment Bank (EIB) plans to invest about 100 million euros in Moldova during the next 15 years. It will initiate a number of projects to lend money to small and medium-sized companies, protect the environment and develop the infrastructure, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Government's press service.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the head of the EIB's Division for Energy, Environment, Small and Medium-Sized Companies for Russia, Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia Constantin Synadino said the Bank is now implementing a number of successful projects in Moldova.
“This year, we plan to carry out feasibility studies and launch alternative energy and other kinds of projects. Moldova holds special interest for us and we want to continue investing in this country,” Constantin Synadino said.
Premier Vlad Filat thanked the EIB for the interest expressed in Moldova and said the country's energy security is one of the priorities of the present government. He spoke about the amendments to the legislation regulating the energy sector, stressing the fact that Moldova joined the European Energy Community is a big success.
