The progress made in the European integration process helped change the mentality and public perception of the role of women in the political and social life, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman said in the public forum “Women for a European Moldova”, IPN reports.

Attending the event, European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström welcomed the results achieved by Moldova in involving women in the decision-making process in Moldova.

The meeting was staged to ensure a platform for dialogue on the opportunities for strengthening the women’s role in the public life in Moldova, taking into consideration the best European practices.

The forum brought together women opinion leaders, entrepreneurs and representatives of local public authorities. It was staged as part of the May 22-23 working visit of Cecilia Malmström to Moldova.
