The events devoted to the European Heritage Days this year will take place in 64 communities of 18 districts during September 24-28. The organized activities tend to center on the protection of historical monuments, archeological sites, art collections and traditional handicrafts and to enable to actively become involved in the safeguarding of the heritage. Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc told a news conference that this year the European Heritage Days are entitled “Our heritage: where the past meets the future”. The theme underlines the importance of cultural and spiritual education that starts from what the people inherited from their ancestors, IPN reports.

In Chisinau, the European Heritage Days begin on September 24 with the launch of an architectural conservation course as part of the Twining project implemented by the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restauration. The next day, MIMI Castle will hold a people’s traditions festival, an exhibition of old carpets from the castle’s collection and workshops of famous craftspeople.

On September 26, the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History 26 will host a fair of traditional dishes, a pie and cabbage roll making workshop and creation workshops centering on traditional building, wood and clay working techniques, weaving and embroidering. The one-painting exhibition featuring “Queen Elizabeth” by Federico Ruiz that was recently restored will be mounted at the National Museum of Arts on September 27.

The series of events will end on September 28 with the handing over of diplomas.
