A number of experts of the European Commission will come to Moldova in the middle of February to test the border police officers to see if they obey all the procedures as regards border inspection and supervision. In a news conference, Border Police chief Dorin Purice said that this test forms part of the second phase of the Moldova-EU Visa Liberalization Plan, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During several weeks, the experts will stay at border crossing points and may cause conflicts and present forged documents so as to test the capacity of the border policemen. Dorin Purice said the experts will test the ability to detain, but will also examine how the human rights and the European norms are respected. “They will determine how prepared we are and if our procedures meet the European standards,” he stated.
Dorin Purice also said that the conditions imposed during the first phase of the Visa Liberalization Plan, as regards the adjustment of the internal norms to the EU acquis, were fulfilled in 2012. There were amended and approved over 40 laws and 50 Government decisions.
