European Commission will propose abolishing visas for Moldovans after Vilnius Summit

The European Commission has announced that immediately after the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit, it will put forward a legislative proposal to abolish the visa regime for the Moldovan travelers. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said on this occasion that he returns home from Brussels with a feeling of great joy, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Government’s press service, the European Commission established that Moldova implemented the measures specified in the fourth report on the Visa Liberalization Plan of Action. Moldova reformed the Ministry of the Interior, continued the good judicial cooperation with the EU member states and the international police cooperation.

The Moldovan authorities made effort to implement the Law on Gender Equality and the Human Rights Plan of Action and to strengthen the ombudsperson’s services.

The European Commission considers that Moldova is achieving all the objectives set out in the Plan of Action.
