The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych asked the European Commission to receive a delegation from Ukraine to have a discussion on some aspects of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso confirmed the readiness of the European Commission to receive such a delegation, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the European Commission.
President Barroso underlined that the European Commission stands ready to discuss aspects of implementation related to the agreements already initialed, but not to re-open any kind of negotiations.
On November 21, Ukraine suspended the procedure for signing the Association Agreement with the EU. About 1 million Ukrainian people protested against this decision in Kiev on December 1.
