The European Commission expresses solidarity with Moldova. If the European countries accept to liberalize the EU market for the Moldovan wine, the exporters will be able to promote their products in the EU and to work at full capacity, economic expert Viorel Chivriga stated for IPN.

The expert considers that the European Commission’s proposal to the 28 member states to liberalize the market for the Moldovan wine represents stimulation that will motivate the economic entities to comply with much more serious conditions than at present. “It is a moment of opening that the Moldovan wine makers will use to the maximum,” said Viorel Chivriga.

According to him, the liberalization of the EU market will not be long-lasting if the Moldovan products do not meet the European standards.

“This gesture by the European Commission shows that Moldova has many supporters that can lend a hand in the most difficult times. This is assistance with prospects. I will not wonder if the road from the initialing to the signing of the Association Agreement is much shorter that projected initially,” stated Viorel Chivriga.

Under the current Autonomous Trade Preferences, the Moldovan producers can annually export 240,000 hectoliters of wine duty-free to the EU.
