The absence of information about Europe is the main cause of the distrust and fear of the people in the European integration. Such an opinion was stated by two EU ambassadors in the program “Politics” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

British Ambassador to Moldova Philip David Batson considers that the communication with the European Union is absent in Moldova. “You should speak more about the EU and the EU’s priorities. The people should know that the European Union is interested in Moldova’s prosperity. The authorities should also be more attentive to the policy on the ethnic minorities. I think there should be a balance between the languages spoken on Moldova’s territory. Traveling through Moldova, I noticed that they speak Russian everywhere and less Romanian. I don’t see a problem in studying the Romanian language in Gagauzia. Everything should be fair,” said the British diplomat.

The Ambassador of Slovakia to Moldova Robert Kirnag said such a phenomenon is due to the fact that there is a lot of information from outside that is used by forces from inside in a distorted way. He urged going on and not looking sideways. Robert Kirnag considers that the problem of languages spoken on Moldova’s territory is not a reason for the people to have an erroneous attitude towards the EU. “For the people to feel comfortable in their own country, they should know the language of the country. I don’t think that two official languages are necessary. It’s necessary only to respect the interests of the sides,” he stated.

Psychologist Ian Feldman accuses the politicians of the fact that some of the Moldovans have a phobia about Europe. “Our politicians do not really think about the effect of their statements on the people. They usually make ostentatious statements and that’s all, but the people are waiting for results. If the Transnistrians see that there are high living standards in Moldova, the people’s rights are respected and there is no corruption here, I’m convinced that all of them will get Moldovan papers overnight,” he stated.
