The Europe Days can bring the embassies closer to the citizens of the host country, Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova György Varga told Info-Prim Neo. The Embassy of Hungary is among the EU missions participating in the Europe Days celebrations taking place in Chisinau and Comrat May 12-19. In both cities info tents will be set up to provide information on Hungary and Europe. The Embassy of Hungary is also participating in the European Film Festival in Chisinau during May 14-18. The Festival's program includes a Hungarian movie called “East Wind” which will be shown on May 17. To promote the European message in Moldova, Ambassador György Varga also accepted the invitation of ULIM to have a lecture at the university on the Hungarian-Moldovan relations and the European integration process. In Hungary, celebrating the Europe Day has a different objective than in Moldova. “While these events in Moldova are organized by the Delegation of the European Union as a support of the European integration process and the European idea through giving a picture on the European Union, the celebration in Hungary is the natural part of the country’s life because Hungary is an organic part of the European Union. We achieved the goal to become the member of the EU, today we are working to make the EU politically stronger, economically healthier in favor of having the capability to enlarge itself towards new member states”, said György Varga, recalling that Hungary signed the Association Agreement in 1991 and became member of the EU in 2004. According to the Ambassador, Moldova is a European country with a very individual history. “No country has to reject its own history but to build the future on it”. “Moldova began with the European integration process almost a decade ago. The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the so called Moldova – EU Action Plans from the middle of the former decade brought their benefits: adaptation to multiple European standards, reforms of institutions, permanent dialog with the EU on cooperation”, said György Varga. The Ambassador went on to remark that the readiness of the EU to launch the negotiations on the Association Agreement, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade and the visa liberalization is a very important signal. “Through this the EU recognizes that Moldova is close to the European values. Identifying the requirements for the European integration the EU is helping Moldova to hold the European vector”, stated György Varga. Europe Days in Moldova are celebrated this year in Chisinau and Comrat during May 12-19. The events are organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova and sponsored by Sudzucker, Orange, Agroindbank Moldova and Flor Art.
