The events dedicated to Europe Day this year will be staged not only in Chisinau, but also in Tiraspol, between May 18-26, EU Ambassador to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said in a news conference, IPN reports.

Europe Day 2013 will be officially inaugurated in the square of the National Opera House on May 18. Fifteen embassies working in Chisinau will set up the European town there and the Moldovans will be able to taste traditional dishes of EU member states. There will be also available a youth corner and a school language. There will be presented about 30 projects financed by the EU and given dance lessons. Public debates on the cooperation between the EU and Moldova will be held in the afternoon.

A concert involving national and foreign singers will take place in the Great National Assembly Square from 19.00 until 22.00. Romanian band “Deepcentra” will be the special invitee.

The European Film Festival will be held at the Cultural Center “Gaudeamus” on May 19 - 22.

In Tiraspol, the European town will be mounted in the Victory Park on May 26. The same events as in Chisinau will take place there. The concert in Tiraspol will be given by Sasha Lopez feat Ale Blake and Broono. The European Film Festival will be housed by the “Tiraspol” Movie Theater between May 24 and 26.

“I’m very glad that we will have an occasion for celebrating this nice day. We have a very rich program for this year and the possibility of the participation of European Commissioner Stefan Fule is a greater pleasure,” said Dirk Schuebel, adding that the official will come to Chisinau on an unofficial visit to celebrate Europe Day.

In the same news conference, interim Prime Minister Prim Iurie Leanca said the European integration should be promoted by political will. Europe Day in Chisinau is marked in order to reassert the affiliation to the European area. A European future for the Moldovans means more investments, higher salaries, less corruption and more rights.
