On Europe Day that is celebrated officially in Chisinau on May 10 a festive ceremony to hoist the flag of Moldova and the flag of the EU in front of the Parliament Bulling and the Government Building will be held in the Great National Assembly Square starting at 1pm, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the executive.
The European Town will open its gates in the central square of Chisinau. Information centers were set up there to inform the visitors about the EU member states, the European integration process in Moldova, and the benefits of the liberalized visa regime and the Association Agreement with the EU for Moldovan citizens.
The European Town in Chisinau will be inaugurated at 2pm, with the participation of Moldovan leaders, representatives of the Government and the EU Delegation to Moldova, EU ambassadors and local elected officials. The inauguration ceremony will be followed by public discussions on the Moldova – EU relations and the European integration process in Moldova. The visitors will be furnished with information about the projects implemented with the financial support of the EU, academic mobility possibilities and possibilities of studying the languages of the EU. The embassies will stage presentations of folk dances and will prepare traditional dishes.
The Europe Day festivities in Chisinau will end with a concert in the Great National Assembly Square at 7pm.
On May 17, Europe Day will be marked in Comrat. The European Town will be opened at 1pm, while the evening concert will be given by the Ukrainian-Tatar singer from Crimea Jamala.
The events are organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova in partnership with the Government of Moldova, the Chisinau City Hall, and the Comrat Mayor’s Office.
