A number of thematic activities are carried out in schools on the occasion of Europe Day that is marked in Moldova between May 19 and 22 this year. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, has told IPN that traditionally there are held drawing contests and discussions with students on such issues as European integration and the European studies.

On May 14, when the students will return from vacation, there will be staged the Peace Hour. The class teachers and history teachers will tell the students about the European countries’ contribution to maintaining peace and about the terrors of fascism. Last year, a delegation of young people took part in international contests staged on Europe Day.

Europe Day is celebrated worldwide on May 9. As Moldova marks the Day of Victory against Fascism on this date, the events dedicated to Europe Day are transferred to other dates.
