Euronest PA to address message at Vilnius Summit

The Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (PA) will address a common message to the heads of state and government on the occasion of the Eastern Partnership Summit of Vilnius of this November. Such a decision was taken at the Bureau’s meeting in Strasbourg, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Parliament.

Igor Corman, chairman of the Moldovan Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration, took part in the meeting of the Euronest PA’s Bureau as the vice president of the Parliamentary Assembly and as head of the Moldovan delegation to this interparliamentary forum.

The meeting centered on the preparations for the third ordinary session of the Euronest PA that will take place in Brussels on May 28-29, 2013. There were also examined the reports and resolution motions of the Euronest PA’s standing commissions.

In the meeting, Igor Corman proposed adopting a political decision on the addressing of a common message of the Euronest PA to the heads of state and government on the occasion of the Eastern Partnership Summit of Vilnius. His proposal was accepted.

The meeting also approved the offering of Euronest scholarships to about 150 young people from the EU member states and the EaP member states with a view to stimulating the work of the Euronest PA, ensuring the exchange of opinions and experience, etc. A seminar for young leaders from the political sphere, the NGO sector, and the business environment of the EaP member states will be staged this autumn to stimulate experience and opinion exchange.

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is the parliamentary dimension of the Eastern Partnership. It consists of 110 members: 60 on behalf of the European Parliament and by 10 on behalf of the Eastern partners - Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
