The Socialists have fielded a candidate with almost no chances of winning in the Chisinau mayoral election to give the incumbent Ion Ceban the opportunity to win from the first round, thinks Eugeniu Nichiforciuc, formerly a Democratic lawmaker and currently the president of the “Respect Moldova Movement” party.
According to Nichiforciuc, the decision to nominate a weak candidate was imposed on the PSRM from outside “by external forces that have influence on Igor Dodon”.
Speaking during a program on RliveTV, the politician said his party will have its own candidate for Chisinau mayor. He added that at present he sees “desperate attempts” by the right-wing forces to favor the victory of PAS’s Lilian Carp, and those of the left to favor the victory of Ion Ceban in the first round.asc
