The Republic of Moldova needs a new political class that would think about the country and the needs of its people, not about the own interests , said Eugen Roscovanu, a member of the National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and head of the Small Business Association. Roscovanu considers that things can be improved by removing the current politicians who are actually professionals in manipulating the population and are dominated by sheer greed. He stated such an opinion in the public debate “Why do the crises in Moldova affect the European integration? View of the participants in the General Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Kiev. The Assembly’s Resolution on Moldova”, which was organized by IPN in partnership with Radio Moldova.
“It is about the elementary greed of those who are in power, who were elected by us – those who believed that changes can be brought about,” said Eugen Roscovanu. According to him, the political culture of those who were elected and in which the population put its confidence is nil and they have no interest in the country and show greediness. “The current political forces are professional only in successfully manipulating the public opinion. We suffer because we are sentimental, but should sacrifice our comfort and should re-form society,” he stated.
The chairman of the Small Business Association is aware of the current situation, but cannot and is not offered the power needed to change something for the reason that this process is very difficult. Even the Euro-skepticism is caused by the same politicians who declare themselves pro-European and speak about the necessity of Europeanization, but actually satisfy their whims, using the European flags. The people should be informed about the European policies so as to reduce this opposition to the veritable Europeanization, but not in the form in which it is promoted by the politicians.
The public debate “Why do the crises in Moldova affect the European integration? View of the participants in the General Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Kiev. The Assembly’s Resolution on Moldova” is the 46th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates”, which are supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
