Eugen Doga honored at Academy of Sciences

Composer-academician Eugen Doga received flowers and presents in a meeting with members of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and with officials. Among the first who congratulated the master was Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. He thanked him for composing the anthem of Chisinau and for everything he does, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dorin Chirtoaca brought him a bunch of roses and wished him health and inspiration. Former President of Moldova Petru Lucinschi said that Eugen Doga is the only man of art who wasn’t criticized toughly for spending not very much time on the country’s territory.
”I want to stress that Doga’s music accompanies us at all the stages of life. Who didn’t listen to the song Maria-Mirabela in childhood? In the most important moments of life, practically everyone dances under Eugen Doga’s waltz,” said Petru Lucinschi.
Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica also gave roses to the composer, while academician Teodor Furdui handed him over a diploma of honor of the Academy of Sciences.
People’s artist Margareta Ivanus sang the song “My Beautiful Codrii” that is composed by Eugen Doga. The event was held to celebrate the 75th birthday of the composer, which he marked on March 1.
Eugen Doga is one of the most famous composers in the ex-Soviet area. He wrote the music to over 200 movies. He has a large number of titles and awards, including of Citizen of Honor of Chisinau municipality. In 1997, he was awarded the Order of the Republic. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences.
