The Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format will be based on equality and mutual respect, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov stated for Info-Prim Neo. The principles were agreed in the third round of talks that took place in Vienna on April 17 and 18. “It’s not about the status in the negotiation process, but about the rights, which are the same. These rights concern the freedom to propose subjects for discussion and initiatives for settling the Transnistrian conflict,” said Eugen Carpov. The participants in the negotiations agreed to classify the subjects into three categories - social-economic aspects, humanitarian aspects and human rights, and aspects concerning the political resolution of the dispute. “These details were put down on paper and in continuation we will refer to them as to parts of the discussions,” stated the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration. Another decision concerns the working groups. They will be part of the 5+2 negotiation mechanism and will aim to ensure the solving of practical problems. “Until now, these groups worked without a direct connection with the 5+2 talks. Now they will make an additional contribution to the discussions,” said Eugen Carpov. Six rounds of talks, once in two months, will take place during a year. The next round was scheduled for July.
