The formation of a post-electoral coalition is an internal policy matter and the EU does not want to influence such decisions, the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek said during a press briefing held after the meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The European official said that the EU can only send a message of solidarity and open cooperation in supporting the free movement of persons, access to the European market, counseling in the fight against corruption, improvement of the legal system, etc.
“Moldova is a European country and should closer cooperate with the EU for the benefit of the Moldovan and European peoples. The EU wants to have close and very good relations with Moldova,” said the official.
Jerzy Buzek stated that the EU would like Moldova to have close relations with all the neighbors as this is very important for the stability and union in the region.
Premier Vlad Filat, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, thanked the European Parliament for the decisions concerning the reforms and developments in Moldova included in its Resolution of October 21.
“We are grateful for the completion of the internal procedures for approving microfinance assistance of €90 million for Moldova. I hope the coming days we will sign this agreement,” said Vlad Filat.
Jerzy Buzek will meet with representatives of all the political parties that entered Parliament. He will also have a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel.
