The education institutions of Moldova will receive free a methodological guidebook for staging social-educative activities about the values of the EU, the Community areas and the European programs for young people. The book was produced within the project “Promoting the European Union in Moldova’s Schools” that was launched by the National Youth Council of Moldova and is implemented with the financial support of USAID and FHI 360, IPN reports.
Project coordinator Galina Petcu said that training seminars will be staged during three weeks as well as the Week of the European Union. “The guidebook will be useful to teachers during the three weeks dedicated to the European Union in schools, between March 9 and 27. Fairs of the EU will be held in all the schools at the beginning of May. The goal of the project is to inform correctly. The correct information comes from correct sources, namely from the school,” she stated.
Raisa Stratulat, senior specialist at the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said the new project allows studying more thoroughly the European values and this is a good initiative.
Ludmila Duca, teacher at nursery-school No. 20 in Chisinau, said the teachers explain to the students what the European values mean, while the children, for their part, are urged to discuss with their parents what they hear at school. “We are in Europe, which is a part of the world, but tend to integrate into the EU and this is what we explain to the children,” she stated.
The project “Promoting the European Union in Moldova’s Schools” is implemented in 1,200 national education institutions.
