The Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum addressed an open letter concerning the current developments in the Republic of Moldova. The letter is addressed to the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, IPN reports.
The letter published on the Committee’s website says the Republic of Moldova is in a volatile situation that could rapidly lead to destabilization. In this connection, the Committee calls on the EU to form a mediation group consisting of persons who know the country and can communicate with the mass media of the Republic of Moldova. The working group should formulate the conditions for a real change and the implementation of reforms.
According to the letter, the representatives of civil society of the Republic of Moldova should be included in the given process so as to make it more transparent and credible. The working group can combine the efforts of the EU institutions, the European Parliament, and can also involve EURONEST or the EU – Moldova Association Committee.
The Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum is ready to contribute the expertise and knowledge of the Moldovan colleagues of the National Platform and remains open for further consultations.
