The European Union will offer Moldova €2.5 million for fighting corruption and money laundering and for promoting pluralism and freedom of the mass media. A bill on the ratification of Addendum No. 1 to the financing agreement was approved by the Parliament’s commission on appointments and immunities, IPN reports.
The EU earlier provided €30 million for the framework program in
support of the current and new agreements between the European Union and Moldova. After assessing the financing necessities at internal level, the EU decided to allocate another €2.54 million for this program. This money will be used to implement a common EU and Council of Europe project to fight corruption, money laundering and economic crime (€2m) and to ensure the pluralism and freedom of the mass media (€0.54m).
The bill is to be ratified by Parliament.
