The Cabinet agreed to initiate negotiations and sign the financing agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission for extending the water supply and sewerage services in Cahul district, IPN reports. Under the agreement, the European Union will offer €11 million for developing water supply and sewerage services in Cahul town and four neighboring villages.
The project is complementary to the project that is financed by the Government of Germany through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, in the amount of €23.5 million.
The given projects to rehabilitate the main water supply and sewerage infrastructure in Cahul district will be implemented by Germany’s KfW Development Bank. The money will be used to extend the water supply and sewerage services in Cahul town and in the villages Cotihana, Crihana Veche, Pascani and Manta, including to individually connect residents to the water supply and sewerage system.
